It's kinda having your own radio station. U plug in ur mp3 player or whatever you want to play....u set ur ratio to a preset or adjustable freq. and you will hear what ur mp3 player is playing...but your audio quality is not as great

Would this be a good solution to those of us with XM using the FM modulator? I'm assuming the output from the Pioneer XM903FM to the FM modulator is just a normal line level 1/8" out...

Hi Ron,

Thanks for your interesting post - I know you are very well respected by this forum.

I was wondering if you could expand a bit on your adapter. To provide some background, I am very interested in adding XM satellite radio to my '03 TL-S, but I don't want to change the stock HU. I am also leery of the FM modulator, as I know that it will decrease SQ.

If I understand correctly, I could purchase any XM receiver with an analog line out and add it as a "pass through" to the CD changer input.

If that is correct, then how do you choose between XM and CD?

Also, you indicated that there will be XM receivers that plug into the CD changer port soon - in which case, the adapter wouldn't be necessary. Would it be worth the wait, and could you provide some details?

Thanks for your help!

Ron put it in my MDX, and let me tell you, it really does blow the RF modulator away in terms of sound. No static, no cut-in from the station when on DVD pause or title menu, and the sound is just awesome. Highly recommended!!

All you do is hit the CD button twice, and your radio thinks you've got a CD-changer.

I cannot emphasize the improvement over the RF modulator!!

No, that pioneer piec e is for use with pioneer units only, but it works just like it.

I still don't have confirmation on working with the in dash 6 disk changer. If anyone wants to help me out and pull their radio out (whoever has the in dash 6), and tell me if there is a port open, that'd be great. Acura can't seem to give me a straight answer.

Street,
I know for a fact there is an open plug on the back of mine. '02 in dash 6. I remember when I had the thing out I was wondering what the heck the open receptacle was for.

StreetEffectz,
My 03 tl-s has a 14pin ip bus (6 disc changer). I installed a blitz safe adapter for the pioneer XM reciever 903 . FWIW its pricey but it doesn't sound like FM any longer
FYI for those that want to mod the 903

mp3coupe -

I have a '03 TL-s as well, and I want to install the Pioneer 903 XM tuner - and NOT use the RF modulator.

Which Blitzsafe adapter did you use? Is it the HON/XM DMX PIO V.1?

One last question - do you know if the 14-pin input port on the stock HU is analog or digital? In other words, does the Blitzsafe adapter convert the IP bus output from the XM tuner to analog, or does it stay digital?

Thanks for the help!

Here are some pics of what it looks like on the radio itself. When you hit the CD button twice you get track 99 Disc 1. It thinks there is an external CD changer, but it's really the Video sound. (You can also check out some of the other things Ron put in!!)

pass through option?

A few have mentioned the pass through option on the Blitzsafe adapter. So this will allow me to continue to use the CD changer I have in the trunk? (I have a 2000 TL w/ single in-dash CD and the optional 6-disc changer in the trunk).

Can I then assume that repeated pressing of the CD button will switch from Single CD -> 6 disc CD changer -> Blitzsafe input -> Single CD -> etc. ?

Also, is there room behind the radio and center console panels to hide the adapter and cabling? I'm planning on using a 1/8" mini to stereo RCA cable and having that run under the panelling into the area under the arm rest. (That's where I'll hide my MP3 player.)
