Fiberglass material question

I am getting ready to make a custom amp rack in my spare tire well for my PPI amp. I went to home depot and bought everyting I needed but I am not sure what the differences is between fiberglass matting and fiberglass cloth other than the cloth seems smoother. Are these basicly the same or do they have different uses?

Chop mat is easier to work with early in the process, especially with complex surfaces and curves. Once the basic shape is complete, cloth can be used in the less complicated, more smooth, areas. They are essentially the same thing however, cloth is woven, mat is not.

These might help:

I used gray trunkliner carpet from Select Products for a sub box in my TSX. The color match is near perfect, and as you point out, it saves a lot of time sanding and filling. Depends on the look you are going for.

Edit: I just looked at their site, they have a bunch of different gray carpet choices now. You might have to call to get the best match...
