Fiberglass box in 2012 TL
Just thought I'd post my upgrade in here for anyone interested. I had a custom fiberglass box made to fit the passenger side recessed area in my trunk to minimize box space. My goal was to improve on the factory system, not rattle the car to pieces so please keep that in mind and understand why I didn't choose to use the entire space below the rear deck (been there done that in other cars, not my goal for this one). I used a JL 10w6v2 (like it or hate it, the sub performs well) and a JL xd600/1. The amp is completely hidden behind the driver side trunk liner. The factory sub was removed to allow venting into the cabin and also because the installer said something about the new subwoofer interfering with the factory sub due to frequencies, etc... I am pretty happy with the set up. On the right songs it will shake the car pretty well (eq. rear seat belts bouncing around and rear seat noticeably vibrating along with the roof panel, etc). I am very pleased with the turn out and how it appears as if it could have been an Acura factory option.
