DVD in the trunk

I installed my DVD player in the trunk and I cannot operate it using a remote from the inside of the car. Its only works when I open that small passage to the trunk in the rear
seat.
Can someone tell me is there something I can buy or do to make it work?
Thanks.

Perhaps an IR Repeater or extender? It just moves the IR Receiver from in the trunk into the car so the remote will work. Mostly for use in Home Theatre systems where the owner wants to enclose all the components in a cabinet, for example. But I don't see why it wouldn't work here.

thats what I did... I mounted a dvd player under my passenger seat, and ran an IR extender into the space under the 'not an ashtray'

my dvd player had a miniplug in the back for it. does yours have this?
