DVD from new MDX on 2000 TL ?

what are the chances of a navi DVD from a 1 week old MDX working on a 2000 TL ?

clearly the trip computer functionality will not work - the hardware isn't there to support it, not to mention the button on the dash to select it.

but will everything else work okay or am i likely to screw up my system with incompatible software and have to do a hard reset ?

thanks.

uk.

I say try it. I realy doubt it will screw up anything. Worst case it just wont work and you have to put old one back and reboot. I was thinking about trying a similar thing with another navi disk. Let me know if it works for you.

so i tried a friends' 2.05J (2001) navi DVD in my 1.93 (1999) system yesterday.

once it boots, you get a message saying something like "updating - don't turn off engine" and it appears to update some kind of local storage - flash memory i guess.

once that completed it went through the usual "earth" screen and it seemed to work perfectly - disappointingly although it wasn't unexpected - pressing the "A/C" button didn't bring up the trip computer like it does on his MDX - shame :-)

interestingly enough, when i reverted to my disk, the software version still said 2.05J so i guess it did detect a newer version of flash some kind of non-volatile storage. pity it doesn't do that for the data on the disk too .. hehehe

time to find me a DVD burner methinks..
