Double Din questions

I want to get a double din for my TL. Right now I'm leaning towards the Pioneer AVH-P4000DVD. Or if you guys any other recommendations (~$500) I'd appreciate them.

So, I'm going to get a universal double din kit from uncald4 and have it installed. I don't know where yet, I have to find a good place.

Now, can I still use the stock audio system? I have absolutely no extra money to spend on new speakers or subs or anything.

Thanks!

Pretty sure the stock sub wont work unless you wire it a certain way.

Right you are.

All your speakers will work fine. No crazy adapters or tricks. However, your installer will need to wire in an RCA pigtail to the BOSE subwoofer signal wires. It's very easy and work awesome. You'll be able to use the subwoofer control on your Pioneer to control the level of the OEM sub.

I would definitely stick with the AVH-P4000. Great unit. Here is the link for wiring in that RCA pigtail.... https://acurazine.com/forums/audio-video-electronics-navigation-22/keeping-factory-sub-when-adding-aftermarket-headunit-99-03-tl-326253/

So will they know this, or will I have to explain it to them? I'm guessing it should make sense and be easy for any good installer who knows what hes doing, right?

And thanks for the help so far, guys!!

Right. A good installer should know what they're doing on this car. However, there is not harm in you guys talking through it. As a customer you always need to voice your expectations. Maybe read through that DIY subwoofer thread in the audio/video forum and write down or print the wire colors and location info for the installer. I'm sure it would be appreciated.

I called up a few shops and I found a perfect one today, Stereo Masters, in Pasadena, CA. Before I even mentioned the subwoofer problem he brought it up. And we talked it through. He knew what he was talking about too. So once I order this I'll be going with them to have this installed.

Is there anything else I need to order, installation wise, besides the dash kit?

Does the P4000 have a sub input? If you click on 'more images' and look at the picture of the rear. I don't see a sub input...

So does that mean I won't be able to hook up the stock sub to it?
