Our cd player will read what is burnt...i.e. if you PUT 2second gaps between tracks, it will pause for 2 seconds. If you do not burn in 2 second gaps, then it will not pause.

It depends on your software that you are using to burn with. Most software, even if you put a gap of 0 sec between songs, there still is a tiny pause no matter what you put and no matter what player you use.

I have been successful making a CD w/o gaps with Nero a few times but not %100. I have not yet cut a song into seperate pieces but I'm sure it is possible.

Stop being so cheap, CDs are sooo cheap that you can afford to zap a few by experimenting to figure it out.

Actually, our TL's will not read the mp3 format. I tried and it did not work. you have to change the mp3's to wav files for ANY cd player to play the music which allows you to put only 10 - 15 songs instead of 100 or however many.

I haven't been able to find a program that does this. i would try to do a search at www.download.com for "mp3 studio", "mp3 mixer", or "mp3 DJ".. that probably should yeild enough results for you.

Right now, I am too lazy to evaluate another program. I just convert all mine to Wav files and edit them that way. It also helps that I have a 40GB HD and 384MB of RAM in my home PC.

Ok that above quote is simply ricockulous (no offense). If your CD burner can burn an MP3 to a music cd (as opposed to a data cd) then the Cd player will be able to read it just fine. I too agree with the fact that Nero can sometimes get rid of the gap between songs, but not all the time. The one thing you have to be careful with is if you put a label on your CD. I have heard that some people have gotten CD's jammed in the player because the label started to peel. As for your question about breaking up the MP3, and sound editing program will be able to do it, just do a search on google

lol. I used to do that on 128mb ram. Needless to say, I often encountered "low system resources, please close programs" haha.

and with the mp3 format playing in the car, thats not gonna happen unless you buy an mp3 head unit dealie. cd players in cars play cd audio tracks, not mp3 files.

Patmac531 No offense but your CD player in your TL will not read a MP3 format. You DO have to convert it over to a WAV file and then burn it to disk.

I think you may have misunderstood his reply.

The car's CD player (or any other audio CD player, for that matter) does not read WAV files. It reads an audio track format called Red Book. If you look at an audio CD with Windows Explorer you will see them labeled as ".CDA" files. This is a dummy file type given to Red Book tracks.

Your CD-R burning software reads in audio information and burns it onto the CD-ROM in Red Book format.

Many older software applications, such as the Adaptec EZ-CD Creator that comes with a lot of drives, only recognize .WAV files and "Red Book" tracks for input. Others, like Nero, allow you to use MP3 files as well, and mix types together in a playlist for burning (very nice).

You can always check out http://cdrfaq.org for FAQ's on CD-Rs.
