tsx stereo

hey guys, thinking about upgrading the audio in my tsx keeping the navi. I was hoping to get a more clear sound, more volume and the ability to have much more bass when needed. Right now Im thinking about replacing all the door speakers and tweeters with JL TR650's, and then my buddy has two JL W3 12's with amp, don't remember which amp it is for 250. It was plenty in his car, audi s4, maybe more than I wanted but I don't think i could buy a sub/amp for less. I was planning on leaving the stock amp in, or would I greatly benefit from changing that out too? Any info is appreciated.

Thanks,
pete

I'm not quite sure but the stock amp might not be able to handle the power demand / resistance that aftermarket speakers need. Someone else may be able to confirm this for me.

Looks like the JL TR650 are fairly efficient at 91db @1w/1m, but if you want more volume you'll be safer with an aftermarket amp. If you condsider an aftermarket amp, it should have differential/balanced inputs such as JL300. Read mercman's thread. He sells some handy adapters and a balun for non-balanced input amps.

BTW, the stock amp has active x-overs built inside so if you use the JL TR650's x-overs too, you'll be hearing music through 2 sets of x-overs. not ideal...

I wouldn't use the stock amp for aftermarket speakers, especially if loud and clear is what you're looking for. Amps are relatively cheap these days, and it'd make a marked improvement if you bought one for the fronts. Imho, I wouldn't bother replacing all the speakers either, just the front ones and get a sub.
