Does '04/05 TL headunit have RCA inputs for the XM/Aux port?
I've read many many threads based off my search, and couldn't quite determine if the input was a proprietary/OEM type multipin plug, or if this input (the XM/Aux input on the back of the OEM headunit) was RCA style inputs.
I am currently working on a project to splice the XM output (in the trunk, the output off the XM receiver (R+/R-//L+/L-) to allow me to install an audio switch that'll allow me to switch b/w two sources ( a) XM, b) MP3 player ) . I've read all the jazz about the Blitzsafe product and various other aftermarket switches, but I've determined that I just wanna create something that I can tolerate (a switch that I can place near the center console) that'll allow me to preserve the best sound quality.
I've used the FM transmitter, and the Tape deck adapter... and they're both ... so-so..
Thanks to all who actually provide decent input and not the typical "The search button is your friend" garbage.) Cheers,
Pete

Just finished my prelim. install of my MP3 player:
1) I successfully spliced into the XM output signal in the trunk. I ran approximately 6 ft. of wire into the cabin up to the gear-shifter region where I can easily unplug the XM and plug in my MP3 player (happens to be an iRiver 512mb). When I have the MP3 player at 60% volume, I can crank the Headunit volume to 40 (maximum level) and it just cranks. There is VERY LITTLE static/background noise.
2) Plugging the XM back in results in identical XM sound quality (as good as pre-MP3 install quality). So, until I find an electronic audio source selector, I will continue with this setup.

I ended up using the remote switch by the center console. Not very elegant, but I couldn't give Sony another $100 just for a preamp switch for my Sony system. I used a quad pull/quad throw relay with a transister gain, so it doesn't draw very much power.
