Do you disconnect the battery ?

Do you really need to disconnect the battery before putting in an ipod adaptor? What can happen if you don't?

I rarely disconnect a battery when installing anything. That being said even if you are really sloppy the worst that you are going to do on most cars is pop the fuse for the radio. Basically i look at it like this, if you feel confident in your skills of installing, then don't worry about the battery; if you are a little unsure about what you are doing then it doesn't hurt to disconnect it, just make sure you have radio code.

Nah. Not only did I NOT disconnect the battery, but because I had to shift the car to neutral in order to pull the center console out, I had the car running and the stereo turned on. I forgot the stereo was on and I connected the aux input harness w/ the stereo system running and didn't have any problems.

I wouldn't recommend this, but as long as your car is shut off, you should be fine with leaving the battery connected.

You're right. I really should've done this. It's definitely the safe way to go.

But, if you choose to disconnect the battery, make sure you have BOTH codes that need to be inputted once you start your car again.
