Distinct smell under heavy bass?

I installed my new system a few weeks ago .. and whenever I crank the volume a lil bit on bass-heavy songs like "Anything" by Jay-Z, this distinct smell floats around .. kinda like electric burning? Anyone have something like that before?

I took it as a sign that the speakers are getting too stressed so I let the volume down .. system sounds awesome though, so I always wanna pump it up haha.

The system's all Rockford Fosgate, 6x9's in back, and 6.5's in front, powered by an RF 450watt, 4-channel amp. JVC Arsenal KD-AR870 is the headunit.

I'm guessing the responses will be, leave the volume alone under bass-heavy songs though.

Could be the normal stressing of new stuff. It's advised to not crank new installs for a few weeks so the components have time to break in. A steady volume, then crank a little more each week.

That smell is your sub cooking... try adjusting your sub level some. I've cooked to Type R's that way.
