dell axim handheld w/ navigation
does anyone have or know anything about the dell axim handheld and its optional navigation software?
i love my tsx, but i do regret not getting the navi (blech to being cheap). to be honest, i didn't like the stock navi when i test drove it (found it annoying) but that's probably because i didn't have a clue how to use it.
i was looking into getting a navi/dvd player, but they all seem to be used in place of the stock stereo interface and i dont want to do that. i like that interface, i just wish i had a nav..
i've been steered away from that pioneer avic 1 and the eclipse and alpine systems are a fortune...so i think my next best bet is the axim. not too expensive and i'm looking to buy a pda anyways. any info on the axim or another alternative would be appreciated!

I have an Axim X30 w/ the Belkin Bluetooth GPS Receiver
You can read more about it at buy.com Belkin GPS
The only problem is you have to download map information to the pda, so depending on how much memory you have, you could only have a few states at a time.
Hope that helps.

I don't know anything about the Dell Axim, I'm not really a fan of PDAs... But what I was looking at for navigation was the Fujitsu Lifebook P1000, a lot more money then a PDA, but not bad for a laptop, and touch screen!

She said: it's GINORMOUS!
i used an ipaq 4155 w/socket BT gps and iguidance software before i got the tsx w/nav. i had a 1gb sd card so all of the east coast was d/l'd to the ipaq. worked great.
it's still no substitute for the tsx 8" screen...

I got my wife the Garmin iQue. It's a Palm PDA with a GPS antenna. Works great. It does voice instructions turn by turn, elapsed time/ETA, and even measures speed. And it's about $1400 less than the Acura nav.

Until Uncle Sam decides to charge for it, the GPS signal used by every NAV/GPS system in the world is free. Software updates (mostly for newer maps) for the NAV itself on the other hand is something that your Acura dealer will gladly overcharge you for.
