dash blue leds conversion

I remember a post about converting the dash lights to blue and I thought about giving it a try. I finished the bulb conversion for the instrument panel tonite and will try to get it installed tomorrow.

It really isn't that hard. I was able to fit the resistor inside bulb packaging and tested it.

material:

7 - blue led clear 5mm diameter or T-1 3/4, $2.80 each
7 - 470 ohm resistor, 1/8 watt rating. if you use a 1/4 it won't fit, $0.08 each
7 - socket bulb assembly or you can take out the ones in meter, $.96 each

tools:

soldering iron
solder
wire cutter
needle nose pliers

see the link for pics

for sure 7 is not enough, let alone the angle on those led are too directional, i have done it havent been successful so i just did my dash to light up white using cold cathode so now it looks like the lexus gauges!

asiankidd: Can you post pics and instructions using cold cathodes? I never liked the blue and always wanted the white, but it was just too much money/work to do. Thanks

yeah but you have to place the cold cathode carefully to get even lighting

Looks pretty nice, if you dont mind can you show me how to do that? I guess I still have to use the LEDs for the rest of the switches and such. I only did the sunroof and VSA switch in white. But because of that film thing it turns out blue. Have been kinda lazy to do anything else. Let me know, thatnks
