CVA-1005 Sound
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
I have an Alpine cda-7892 in my TL, with a 4V sub pre out to my MTX 800W amp powering 2 JL 12s. The most important thing about this whole system is the sound quality- Alpine is unmatched. My head unit, although getting older, puts out clear, crisp bass and incredible sound altogether.
I have been offered a CVA-1005 media station, this is the flip up screen. It has a built in tuner and can accomidate an Alpine changer, but it has 40W output as opposed to my deck's 50W. I want to hook up a CD changer to the CVA-1005, and connect it to my subs via the sub output. However, I want to know if I will lose sound quality. I know that all Alpine equipment is top quality, but will this setup not sound as good?
Thanks very much, once again any help is appreciated.

I do not think you will notice a difference from 40 watts to 50 watts out of your head unit. I think you will be fine. I have to send my JL 300/4 in for service and I hooked my front components straight to my IVA-C800. It sounds fine as long as I do not go crazy with the volume.

Something is wrong in the front channels. A while back, I started getting engine whine in my MDX. I finally traced it to the front channels of the 300/4. When setting the gains on the front channels, one side will read something like 25 volts and the other will read 4 volts. I started using the rear channels as the front channels and they were dead on the button. Since I am going to be installing the Image Chameleon 5 1/4 to the rear of the MDX, I need all 4 channels working.

Yeah, they will fix it but, I have to pay for it. When I talked to them, it was like a $78 flat charge for repairing a 300/4. Bad part is, I have to take it to an Authorized dealer to have it sent. So, I have to drive 30 miles to drop it off and then no telling how long it will take to get it back. So, I am without an amp in my MDX for I would guess a month.
