Question Component System????

I think I blew my tweeters and instead of having the dealer replace them for god knows how much, would it be possible to install an upgraded component system in the front door/ dash speakers? I'm not really sure how the system is set up with the amp and all that's why I'm asking the question...thanks.

Luthier is attempting to install a Kicker component system - as far as I can tell the only problem will be getting a tweeter to fit into the dash cutout - Skip (luthier) had to cut a little to make it work. I am gonna try to get some component speakers and see what I can do to make it look stock. The 6.5 inch speakers should be easy enough with a (.5 inch?) spacer so that the baskets clear the small diameter holes in the plastic door. Im gonna use my old Kenwood amp and bypass the whole stock set up thing. Anyone know if Polk/Momo component set will fit? I know that EX series will with spacer. Good luck. Brian
