Coaxials in TSX
Do Coaxials make sense to install in the TSX. I just picked out and bought my amp, JL e2150. I'm just wondering if better quality coaxials would sound good in the front doors? Components seems more expensive and tougher to install. Any suggestions?? I have 04 TSX with nav.

go with components. THe new alpine type R components can be had for 169.99 from onlinecarstereo.com. only difference in installing is the addition of the corssover network and tweeter. other than .. not very complicated. the extra work is worth the benefit of better sound. shoot .. try putting a 2 gauge power wire into our tsx .. no fun at all

There is no inherent reason that components sound better than coaxials. There are feature differences between many coaxials and many components, but it shouldn't be assumed that coaxials aren't better than components. Or that all coaxials are cheap.
We put coaxials in Joerockt's car, and it sounded pretty good, and the way he wanted it. He listens to a lot of rock and we used MQ Quart coaxials to NOT have Quart tweetsoff the glass. Sounded good, he liked it.
I personally prefer tweeters that play really low for a tweeter, and if you're not using one of those, then I personally recommend a GOOD coaxial. I think a higher xover point is better in a coaxial or close-proximity configuration.

then you would have two tweeters per side, with the "same" high frequencies coming from two different places, which would make the high frequencies approximately 3 db louder than the mids, and screw up your imaging and staging completely. jps
