I know I can get a aux output line from the radio. But my question is I want to get the above harness by metra and just connect a ipod to the RCA lines and it will play sound through the amp/speakers? If it work/dont work, why wouldnt it?

I found this from another forum: Can anyone comment, this is for the harness above.
I basically want to direct output a soundcard or IPOD but without a headunit. Sorry if this is confusing...
are you trying to run the stock HU wit the carputer (soundcard)? if not go get a metra kit that will plug into your bose amp under the passenger seat (Take the radio harness from the radio at the dash) that will convert it into rca's, then plug those rca's into the sound card of your computer. easy as that. i have an rsx too and currently working on carputer. let me know how you do.

I'm not sure if you understand the concept of the harness..
a) that is a aftermarket harness that won't connect to anything.. well.. it will.. your stock harness but then you have no radio..
b) that harness is not for your amp either. I'm not sure what you are expecting it to plug into.
c) here is a example of a DIY audio aux input.. there's more to it then you think.. https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-audio-bluetooth-electronics-navigation-94/diy-audio-aux-577329/
d) Here's a example of the magical connector input on the back of your radio..
You really need to do more research.. and understand the concept..

Should be possible if you find an aux with LR+- RCA outputs. (if they even make those?) Don't know how good it would sound since it's supposed to be connected to the pre-amp outs of your HU, which is what I have on mine.

I know how to connect the blitzsafe unit. I have a DEI IP-PORT HON1 (similar to PA15– HON2 ) for my IPOD kit. I read in that many people just used the Metra kit above connect it directly to the radio headunit harness and use the RCA with the harness to a IPOD or computer soundcard for sound. I am researching if is possible on the CL. Over at metra website it listed the Metra 70-1725 is compatiable with the CL.
Similar Kit as Metra: Ebay
Metra.com Reference on 70-1725
01 CL Type-S Standard BOSE (Non-Navi)
The main reason why I need to do this is because I am removing the headunit to fit a double-din screen (where the HU is currently in the enter dash)

I don't get it... You say theres no inputs on the back of the stock headunit but you want to use a aftermarket radio and harness..
Why don't you either..
a) buy a aftermarket headunit with inputs
or
b) buy a auxillary input adapter
I still don't think you know what you are looking at..

As the above image shows there is no headunit. I will connect to the harness (plug) of the radio (not the stock BOSE radio/hu) but the stock radio harness/wires into the metra kit. I guess I might be little confusing but I seem the exactly installation over at with this kit accoplishing what I am doing. But I need to know for CL. thanks to all who helped. I post back when I get the metra kit.
Read what you already copy and pasted...

Again the harness will NOT work with your stock radio attached..

Just an update I contacted Metra Tech support team and ask if this will work for what I planned on doing and they say it will. I will have no stock radio attached just a cable. Op, I think you can end this thread it has been solved. And thanks Jonesi...

That's what I've been telling you, you can't use that harness with the stock radio attached...
