choosing new sub help
i had 2 type-r's in a ported alpine box which was too big for my car. i need the trunk space so i'm moving down to either a single 10" or 12".
i already have all my wiring and amps mounted, the specs for my sub amp are:
my budget is anywhere from $200-$300 INCLUDING box, but the box i can build myself with instructions. i want the box to be roughly 1.0 cF ported, to keep the size down.
does anyone have any recommendations on what to get? these are some of the models i have researched but not found anything definitive on.
JL 10W3V3, 12W3V3, 10W6V2 (pushing $)
eD e5.10
IDQ10V2, IDMAX10 (pushing $)
Dayton RSS265HO (cheapest)
Cliffs:
- single 10" or 12" sub (~1.0cF ported)
- cheap as possible (around $200)
- 600 RMS

Why not one of your Type R's in a sealed alignment?
Secondarily, the PG RSDc sub seems cheap and a strong performer. I also like the JBL GTO, and Fi Audio Q. Sundown SA12, or the TC Sounds subs at Parts Express.

This bit of knowledge will help me greatly...
WHAT did you not like about it? Be specific, there may be something to the sound that we need to address, possibly related to the sub, possibly related to the alignment (box), etc.

Hey man if your trying to keep the box size down I saw a video online from Soundman Car Audio at an Alpine product convention. They did a test on the new type r and its pretty awesome. The guys from the shop, who are really legit and do awesome installs, say its a great woofer. The sub is $180 for the 10inch and the sealed box max is 1.0. I think its a great choice. I've got one type R in my trunk in a sealed box and a matching alpine 600w amp to power it. Its more than enough to make my head hurt on the 1/2 hour commute between home and work.

It is a possibility. I've never liked the really slammin systems(hence never have had one and probably haven't damaged my ears to badly yet). If it makes the outside of the car sound like someone twanged a door stop then I dont like it. The bass is for me, not the rest of the world.

So I was on the hunt for another Fi sub and came into this seller.
This guys response is humorous to me.
What do you guys think ?
My question:
What options does this sub have ?
How will this be packaged for shipping ?
Thanks,
His response:
Professionally, complete with wood crate and will be opulent. Goes beyond suffice! Ohmage is as versatile as can be because the voice coils are 1.7 If you want SPC or just low DB's u can do both and was tailored strictly for yours truly and a $80,000 car!! !! Also, handling up to 5000 watts makes it an opulent, prominent sub.
What country is this guy from ?
Opulent, Really ?

IMO just buy from Fi directly.
If you don't mind waiting a bit, pony up for an AE (Acoustic Elegance) sub. It is the only sub I regret selling (I sold them because they were too deep for my shallow box design in my new car.)

Just give John time to make the darn thing at AE. He's been having a few trials and tribulations getting all the parts and vendors to play along, but the finished product is phenomenal. I WISH he made more shallow stuff to fit my needs.
