CDT audio
Hi everybody,I was wondering if anyone has cdt comps in their TSX. I have heard good things about them especially the ES series.I am about to swap my components but would like some info on these befofe I lay down my bread on some Dynes. Any input is appreciated.
I've got the CDT HD-62s up front with the M519 UpStage System.

I've got to say this things are bloody fantastic. I can only imagine how beautiful the EuroSport series or even eurosport 07s would sound. Steven Head (IASCA SQ world champion) did my install and he was very impressed with the sound if that means anything. And he competes with some amazing stuff.
I'm not sure if you're dead set on CDTs or would like to test some other brands, but I can testify that you will not be disappointed with the CDTs if you choose that route.
Just beware that these things need serious power. The recommended rms power rating should be the minimum when you're considering the amp.
Up to the 6.5 ES should fit no problem with a 3/4" spacer. The 1" fit perfectly, but if you need to aim them (which you'll need to) across the windshield, they may stick out a bit from the stock tweeter location. The 3/4" tweets fit and can be aimed with no problem.

yes they can. Actually that's what my installer did when they added the stagefront system.
You can have the installer do it or you can get the coaxial version that have the tweets already mounted.

Simply going coaxial/point source style doesn't throw an image into the center the way kicks do. One of the reason that kicks sound different is that speaker's freq response is different on-axis than it is off-axis. Simply putting the tweet near the mid doesn't solve that.
What it can do is eliminate a problem - if you have that problem - often called "image float". If you have a tweet/mid set with an xover point within a very sensitive range - say 4000 or 4500 - the tweeter and woofer sound disjointed when very far apart with most music. (Focal, MB Q, and others use this xover point neighborhood).
If you use the TSX OEM location with a tweeter that can, and does, play down to 2000-2500 Hz, then it's like you have little mids in your dash. If you're choosing between the two types, there's a big diff.
One of the reasons the a/d/s/ 320i was so hot way back when was their low xover point with a "small" tweeter (big by todays standards, but they were using Smarium cobalt - no neo tweeters yet...)
So a/d/s, Morel, DLS, CDT, Rainbow, Alpine F1, and Dyne all use lower xover points on the tweeter.
I trust that the CDTs sound very good. If you can afford Dynes, hard to say no to that... probably the finest drivers around. Their passive xover is kinda mainstream, so I make my own passives sometimes depending on the install - or use actives.
Sounds like a win-win deal.

I hear GREAT things about CDT components. I think NSXNEXT has these in his car
