they make kits for them, they do take half the place. The other half ends up being a little pocket for storage. I got my last one at Walmart.

When you buy the new deck, ask to see if they offer free installation. If yes, let them do the installation to save you the trouble, plus it's free! You will have to purchase an installation kit from them if they install it for you. Make sure it is the kind with the pocket that you want because there's another kind without the pocket. If for some reason you want to do the installation yourself or if they don't offer free installation, there's a post on here about changing out the aftermarket deck. It is not hard to do at all because I have done it myself. Aftermarket deck will sound much better!

When I bought the radio I bought the installation kit and then I got it installed for free thanks to circuit city with it's $99 or more free installation program.

I had the same installation kit on both TL's, put the cd player in myself on both of them. It's not very difficult. Any installation kit will have the pocket because it needs to take up the space. Typically it comes with various pockets so that the one kit can fit various other models.

Also another thngs about the installation kit that I forgot to mention is that the pocket can be on the top or the bottom. I have the pocket on the bottom but I have seen it on the top so think about that and what you think is more comfortable to you.

Not all installation kit comes with the pocket. I have one for my TL that didn't have the pocket, instead it have a punch out slot for those that wants to install a smaller size deck underneath like an equalizer. If I take the cap off the slot, I can see inside and all the wires and such. I had to get that installation kit because the ones with the pocket sold out and I wanted to put my deck in that day. I ordered one with a pocket later and changed it out myself.

I guess then another thing to add about the installation kit is that there's also a cover that you can use to close the pocket incase you don't want it there at all and then it just looks

I got a Sony HU put in at circuit city. I walked out the door for $160.00. The put installed the HU in less than an hour. I got an HU with a remote for $105 and the kit plus tax came to $160.

First you need to take the wood grain piece off that is around the radio and the passenger side dash. It's just clips, so take pull it out.

You then will see the screws out around the radio unit. The rest you should be able to figure out.

holla if you got any q's

The plastic woodgrain is held onto the dash with clips on the back side of the wooodgrain itself. To take it off, take a flat head screwdriver or something flat and pry between the woodgrain and the dash very gently all the way around to pop it out. Be very careful because you don't want to break it. You might want to wrap the tip of your screwdriver with a thin cloth to not scratch the surface. You will see what I am taking about once you do this. But be careful, don't break the woodgrain because it will cost you some money to get it replace. Good luck!

+ I always start prying it with a flat head by the steering wheel. It will be the least visible spot incase you mess something up.

If you dont like or want the little pocket under the HU, you could try this cupholder mod as well:
