Question Car Phone Install Questions

I bought a hard install kit for my sprint phone. I checked the past posts here, and did not see one about this, so here goes.

What is the best place to get +12v for this install?

Is there a certain sequence to follow to run the wire up the windshield column for the microphone? (i.e. remove this first, etc.)

Has anyone here done a phone install and have any pointers?

THANKS!

The easiest place to get 12v is from the fusebox, use the radio or wiper fuse. To run the mic up, you can pull the a pillar and tuck the mic wire inside there so that you cant see it.

Actually, I will tell you a really great place to get switch +12V from....remove the part of the console that has the armrest in it...underneathe is a connector for the stock power outlet...you can t-tap it right there. It's heavier guage wire which makes it a nice spot to tap from.

Street is right i used the same connection but i used the one in front because my phone kit sets to the right of the head unit. i had to get a constant wire as well because my phone kit allows the battery to be charged independently of the power for the phone. so my battery get charged all the time even when the car is off. also look for a "patch" antenna i got one and mounted it behind the tinting band at the top of the windshield because i didenn't want some crappy cell antenna stuck to the glass on the outside. my antenna sticks to the glass on the inside and nothing on the outside keeping the outside of the windows looking clean. i ran my mic wire up the driverside pillar and installed it close to the headliner so the visor wont hit it when moved forward and back.
Good luck

Question

Street obviouly knows his stuff!

Is this the "patch" antenna you are refering to?

Does this obscure your view out the back? Is yours mounted high on the window or low in the corner? Please advise.

THANKS

Better yet just use the spare line on the back of the fuse box...
