Capacitors...

I'm looking for a 1 farad cap. I'm basically pushing 800 watts to my subs and my head lights dim slightly. Am I going to need more than 1 farad? What are good brands? Which brands are the best "bang for the buck"? How much do they normally run? Thanks.

A cap really won't help light dimming. A caps purpose is to supply your amp with power during big bursts. To keep the lights from dimming you'd probably have to upgrade your alternator and battery!

What does an upgraded alternator go for? What size is stock and what size would I need for an after market?

A 1 Farad Cap will be sufficent for the dimming of your headlights. The reason your headlights dim, is because the amp draws more power from the altenator at times of low bass response. The altenator on a cl is 120amp standard. That is really good compared to other vehicles. The cap stores energy up to 14.4 volts and releases it when the bass hits. One of the best caps to get is a lightning cap or stinger. Any brand will do just fine! Have fun

I agree with 03acura...a cap will solve you're problem. A good brand to use is Alumapro. I'm running 4 amps pushing over 1,500 watts off an Alumapro 15 farad cap and I have no electrical issues at all.

My head lights never dim...its usually the dash lights and interior lights that are affected by the system!
