I can't take my ****ty 99 head unit not playing burned cds very well anymore, I just got some TDK brand and they still take forever to start playing/ dont play/ take forever to change tracks. What are my options to have working CDs in my car? From what Ive gathered I can spend $200 and get a new plastic trim, plus a new headunit, but are there any cheaper options?
also, the FM modulators suck, right?

 

you can buy the alpine mp3 changer, alpine adapter for that changer and the required changer adapter...or go new everything. do a search and you can find out more about the former option.

 

Are you sure it's not your burner? Can you play the CDs on other units with no problem?

 

Yeah, it seems to be a common problem for 99 TLs from what Ive read on here. A lot of my CDs are ones I used in my old car anyway, and worked with no problems.

It sounds like you're asking the same question I am...is there a kit to allow installation of an aftermarket HU and EQ in the dash.

The responses I've gotten to date don't seem to indicate so.

Looks like it's time to pull out the Dremel.......
