can anyone tell me about this...

http://www.electronicscity.com/Detai...otal=2&no=3583

i can probably get my p's to let me buy this if i can work a solid selling point. my plan for this is to say it can be used for a navigation, but i dont see any references to this being used as a navi and thats probably the only positive point from a responsible parent's perspective. i can pay for it and all just they would never let me use "so i can play dvd's" for an example of why i want it. does anyone know anything about this player?

i can get it online for like 1600. i think thats a pretty good deal since its touch screen and has a built in DVD player. what you guys think?

so whats the question? how are you going to convince your parents to let you buy this? no way in hell thats happening if your parents are anything like mine...I'm 23 and haven't lived at home for 5 years and I still don't tell my parents I have a dvd player in my car. They would yell at me for wasting my money and on and on. And truth is, there really is absolutely no real reason we need these in our cars. The navigation angle wouldn't work, at least with my parents. A map costs 4 bucks and has worked quite well to navigate by for the last what like 5,000 years...

But other than that, thats a really nice setup. The screen/dvd is 1600, but how much is the navi setup? I got a kenwood and the cheapest I have found the navi for is up near 2 grand. I like the brushed aluminum on that screen though very pimp but also classy.

Last thing I will say is that I am pissed I got a dvd player. I like having the screen, but I have not yet played a single dvd in there, other than one to test it out. I play a few video CD's, but basically I just stick to regular cds, mp3 cds, and satellite radio. DVD is cool to show off a little, but IMO a total waste of money.

$1600 is MSRP, so buy it in a store, get the sale price, and keep th4e warranty. The picture on that screen is very good, and I like the Pioneer Nav, better than the Kenwood (sorry, although, things have evened out this year). The Nav sells in a package with that screen for 2800, all touch screen, but more importantly, you can input phone numbers to get to your location. That is about the most affordable navigation on the market, and a good picture on the DVD player also....

i am spending my own money, but obviously they are going to have some say in this considering how high my insurance already is.

where did you see these 2 as a combo pack? i would obviously like to get both from the same place and have it installed by an official pioneer installer.

like i had said, i can pay for it myself, but they are still the boss' (til march 27th that is...) and as long as im their son i think their advice and input should be considered.
