Yes its a common problem. do a search for CDRs and it will bring up a lot of threads. I had my HU replaced under warranty and my new HU plays all CDRs. Some people suggest buying CDRs that are under 16x or recommend different brand of CDRs.

This may sound silly, but I've never had ANY problem with CD's I've bought at Wal-mart. I've been burning CD's since 1995 by the way, so if you need brand names of CD's or CD burning programs just ask. I know which ones work.

this is the SINGLE REASON that I will most likely not buy another acura...

Sound pretty stupid... Not really. My 95 accord played them - PERFECTLY, my chevy s10 played them- PERFECTLY, I would expect nothing less from a "luxury car"

Some people say that different brands or burning speeds make a difference or your CDR software or 650/74 min cdr's work better... BS!!!!!!! none have worked in my 99 TL and I have tried them ALL!! Trust me... I have spend nearly $60-80 buying all kinds of different brands. I wish somebody had said - "hey it's pointless - use that money for a new deck"

anybody want an assortment of blanks?!?

Try different brands of CDRs... such as the green bottom, blue bottom and stuff.

I've had a lot of problems with CompUSA brand CD-R's. Also my previous ACER CD burner really sucks. Ever since I bought a TEAC CD burner with Imation CD-R's I had no problem.

I know this sounds assuming and really stupid, but you guys are buying music CD-R's, right? because if you use normal data CD-R's, they use a different dye in the disc sometimes that makes them not work on stereos and in cars. The music/data cd-r's are a few cents more, but it's worth it if you don't have to wait an hour to play the cd.
I started out burning cd's of music and trying to use the regular data only CD-R's. Sometimes they'd work and other times they wouldn't. It really depends on what frequency of laser is contained in the CD player as to which discs they will and will not play. That's why CD-RW's don't work in hardly anything. . . .And they cost about twice as much, which really chafes my rear end.

Oh well. What can you say, except technology sucks and is too confusing (sometimes).

the music cds just ensure you pay a tax to the RIAA, f**k that!

I had the same problem until I got a CD stuck in the head unit, now I just use a portable disc man plugged into the tape deck. Im going to get the metra kit and just put a new head unit in, but goddamn the cd player p**sed me off. I tried to get the dealer to replace it but they said thats how it was supposed to work (this was when I was still under warranty). Anyway, don't even bother with CD-rs in the stock head unit, just resign yourself to getting a new head unit or using a discman, its better in the long run (I used to get so annoyed waiting for it to change tracks)
