boost highs and lows in CL-S

I have an 03 CL-S w/factory OEM Bose system.
I find it lacking in overall power/punch.
It seems that the bass response is particularly weak and the highs are not that pronounced either.
It almost seems like it needs an old school loudness contour button...something that was used on all home audio receivers to boost both bass and treble response at low volumes....

anyway, here's my question: do you guys find the factory stereo lacking?

or maybe my ears are going bad LOL
I found my factory stereo in my 01 Accord EX-L coupe to be far superior.

And...is there a simple fix?
Is the best route to add a sub?
or get new speakers
or replace the head unit
or get a special amp??

any advice would be very much appreciated
thanks

Yes...its lacking. Simple solution.... Well I guess if you wanted a simple solitution for a DIY install, avincar speakers work well with the stock bose system. Either that, or you could just hook up a sub which is what I might be doing. check this out...pretty simple setup. OR...best one yet....replace ALL the Bose equipment; Stock HU, speakers and amp...and go for the gold. Whatever the case....the stock sound isnt that pleasing to me either.

whatever i do i like my car to look "as stock" as possible
that's why i hate to replace the head unit

sub sounds like a good idea; however, after reading several posts here
it sounds like audio shops can really screw up your car!

We still do the CL-S kit special order - two avincar us-made 6x9 woofers, two door midbass in drop-in spacers, two German-made silk-dome tweeters pre-mounted in replacement Acura-factory color-matched mirror sails, all with plug-in wiring and no cutting of plastic or metal, for $450 shipped lower 48.
