BlackAck's audio overhaul part 1 (56K go away)

Finally got my audio half installed. For those who don't know about my situation, I had removed my trunk and subs in September to dynamat the trunklid, rear deck, and trunk. Here's a little walk through of the work that I put in, it was a long day, and it was a long time comin, had a lot of problems gettin my rear deck speakers to fit, they are 40 oz magnets and the mounting depth is 3.5" which is way too big for our wonderful back deck, because they sit on the trunk springs and only go in about half way. Needless to say I bought 3 different pairs of spacers that would not work trying to be lazy, finally ended up making custom spacers out of MDF. Here are some pics of my progress. Got my Audiobahn 3 way 6x9's finally installed. Got my new Class X 1200 Watt amp for my 2 12's with remote gain knob, and put my bass back in after bein out for at least 4 months. Here's what I've been workin on lately

Stripped trunk ready for dynamat:

My trunk, where it sat from september till now:

Trunklid ready for dynamat, you can see the premium blose 6x9's:

Dynamatted trunk lid (didn't take pics of the rear deck or trunk) You can't see any dynamat with the carpets reinstalled, AND no more rattles Done back in September along with the rest of the trunk.

New speakers next to the bose, check out the size of the magnets and height difference

The final project after trying 3 other spacer options, 4 hours with a jigsaw and dremel.

Painted flat black so they wouldn't stand out (this is the 1st coat)

Tight fit, fit perfect after many dremel adjustments

Finished product Sounds SO clear love the 3 way, you can hear all the high and midrange in the trunk now. Sounds real clean

Legacy 3 Farrad cap

My 12's, with my new Competition 1200W class X amp, and the new 3 ways in view, and I finally have a trunk again.

New Amp glowin red with power

160 Amp circuit breaker, the amp requires at least 140 Amp circuit breaker

Broke the mounting hole on the one side of the circuit breaker, so I reversed it till I can get a new one and mount it correctly.

Sorry for the amount of pics, I took like 3 times as many, but wanted to show people that it is possible to mount big ass speakers, just takes a lot of custom work. Feel free to flame or give opinions, all in all the system sounds clean as hell, and I'm VERY happy with it. Took a long time coming, but the trunk is all dynamatted, and there's no more rattles, sounds really clean. Next install is my 6.5" audiobahn front components(with spacers) and matched tweeters, and 4 channel 600 Watt highs amp. Didn't do it today because I need to get a new distribuition block, and didn't feel like taking the door panels apart and all that fun stuff. I'll hopefully get on with that in the next week or 2, will be installing new mirrors and a number of other things in the coming weeks, as well as a number of other projects, just wanted to share this with y'all, cuz I put a hell of a lot of work into it, and i'm only half done, but i'm glad to have my subs back in, my dynamat installed and my trunk back together

Looks good!

Not only does that look to be a quality job, but you went the extra mile to keep the white trash appeal away. Bonus points for the dynamat! I just wish all the kiddos with the Civics and Stratuses would invest in that.

I have had close to a dozen systems in this car, and I have been perfecting as I go along, I can't wait to do the highs amp and components that match the 6x9's but they were a real bear, they were not meant at all to fit in this car, but it was really worth it. I take my audio very seriously and have been building up and perfecting for quite some time. Thanks for the compliments, I'm very happy with the amp as well, haven't gotten to really test its' nuts yet, but it's a class x which is way more power efficient than a class d, and it shows, my cap stays much more level but the output is phenomenal. I'm also very happy with how clean the install came out, the wires were already there from my previous systems, though I've swapped them out a number of times, but I went the extra mile to make sure they're all hidden and it's a very clean install, even that rca you can see in the one picture isn't visible anymore. And I swear by dynamat, I seriously have no more rattles except my cracked wing which I have yet to fix. I have dynamat on my license plate as well, waiting to do the doors when I take them apart. I've dumped can after can of dynamat into my trunk, took my time, that's why my trunk's been stripped since september, I hate rattles, and I hate civics with ghetto systems that rattle their little tin can cars. So I took my time with that, plus all the hell i had tryin to fit the 6x9's, but it def paid off. Thanks for the compliments, I'll let you guys know when I get the highs goin.

Looks dope. I cant wait till i can start on my system for real. It just sucks that you werent able to use the stock speaker grills on the back lid. Thats the only thing (visually) that i dont like. But im sure it sounds awesome.

I wish i could have used the stock grills too, but they'd need to be like 3 times as deep, cuz there's no way they will fit, i tried for about 30 seconds and it's impossible. Definately sounds awesome though

About $10-15 a can in the US, depends on where you get it. They quit making the spray cans and just sell it by like 5 gallon buckets now, but you can still get cans of spray foam a number of places. I just bought like 5 cans a few months ago.

Just a note, the amp is only mounted on the box temporarily, until I put my amp rack in with my 600 watt highs amp, then they will both be mounted there.

EEK! Audiobahn?!?! U read too many super street magazines and such!

Some nice Bostons or Polks would have dropped right in your rear deck and allowed the stock grilles to fit just fine and sounded much better.
