Best subs?

I have two Type-R Alpine 12" subs and a 1200 watt Sony Xplode amp in my trunk right now, but now the subs have two holes. One right through each sub from my skateboard. For Christmas, I was going to ask for some new subs. The ones i have now never really kicked as hard as i wanted them to and im not really sure why, so now since these subs are shot, I am unsure on which ones would be best. Im not sure if my amp is not powerful enough, or if my subs just sucked but i want some hard kick. How would I accomplish this? Any recommendations to someone who knows nothing about car audio systems? I would like to keep the subs in the 200 dollar area if i could. Any suggestions? let me know. Thank You!

They never "kicked" becasue that amp only produces 380watts RMS. You need a new amp and subs. Now Best Subs? Whats your application. With that amp you can use 2 JL W1v2 and they will hit harder than the Type R because the W1 need less power to move. The Type R need 800 to 1000 watts Rms in Sony Language that is 2400 to 3000 watts.

Also get a ported box.

If you need subs I got plenty for sale.

Better idea, ask for a quality amplifier. It will cost more than the subs, which you can save your pennys any buy, and it will make ANY sub sound better than that POS sony amp.

why not just get one good 12" sub, build a nice ported box for it and get a decent amp to push it. Either way get rid of that sony amp.
