I only had experience with the Viper brand. The ones with out the pagers are all the same. They all work the same, & most have the same range. As you see in the link Directed makes most of them now days so that's why they all work pretty much the same.

We've used most every brand on the market, and although when they first came out they had bugs, in my opinion, Compustar makes one of the best systems out there now. Even the range on their basic AM alarm is better than my Viper 791XV.

viper is the best 791xv, one step down is prestige aps-996a. In my own expirience with compustar alalrms it's a junk, number one problem lcd remotes once you drop them lcd screen is gone, new remote $100. which never happends to viper or prestige, and number two alarm its self.

I agree .... but since you are not looking for a 2-Way pager alarm system, I would go for a Prestige APS-876C. Very good alarm system, and it also comes with carbon fiber looking remotes. As for installations, Circuit City Roadshops do it for fairly cheap and their work is guaranteed for as long as you own your vehicle

Good Luck, Man
