I installed a kenwood backup camera a while back, but it was in the 100 range, but works great. Sorry probably didn't help. How is Edmonton treating yea? My cousin lives there!

Don't get the wireless kind! they suck! installing extra back up lights will also benefit you more than spending the extra money to buy a camera with "good" night time capability.

OP, $50 may only buy you a CMOS backup camera. CMOS cameras tend to have lower resolution and are not ideal for backup cameras in general. You want to find a camera that is listed as CCD. This is a superior tech. in many ways, and will give you a better picture even without those leds that often accompany the CMOS backup cameras. Do some research on the web and you'll find that ccd is a higher quality camera for this application. Unfortunately, it may be a little tricky to get one for $50. I'd try ebay.
