Aux input?

While I'm not new to car audio, I am relatively new to my '03 TL-S. I've decided that I want to keep the system in this car stock. I have the in-dash CD changer. Is there a way to add an aux. input to this unit? I know it can be done to the single-CD unit, but I can't find any info on if it can be done w/ the changer unit... Thanks for any help. BTW, some of you guys are some smart mofos on this board!

I think this is what you need, if you have the indash 6 cd changer without an additional external changer.

I'm replacing my stock stereo soon so I might have one for sale. PM me if you are interested.. thanks

WTF? Single cd? There's no such thing in a 2nd gen tl/cl. Just get a blitzsafe aux adapter. Plugs into the port on the back of the HU & your done.
What's so hard about that?
It's the same application as the CLS.

...Because their link says it won't work in a TL, even though I'm (pretty) sure the '03 CL and TL head units are the same......Are they?

Okay, after reading their site more closely, I kinda answered my own question about the Blitzsafe. In a nutshell, my radio may or may not have the 14-pin connector in back. There's no way to tell from the front, as they all look the same. The Blitzsafe will only work if the radio has it, and it's not being used by the changer. The only way to know is to take the radio out and look.

The port is there. The "changer" they are referring to is an external changer. You don't have 1 since the HU has a built in 6 CD changer.

You can take the console side panels off & reach behind the HU & feel for the port.
The instructions for this are on the audio FAQ.

Thank you! I'll check that out now.

I'm in the same situation. I'd like to keep the car as stock as possible, although I have a nice Alpine system waiting if this doesn't work out and I've found out where I can get a nice bezel for a 1 DIN HU too.
As for the Blitzsafe AUX input thingy, it states on that site:
Compatible with all models of Acura from 1999-2004 except all years of RL, RSX-Type-S, SLX, TL and TSX. All radios must have an empty 14-pin connector at the rear of the radio.
This sort of makes me wonder. Mine is a 2003 TL Type-S as well, and I don't want to spend money on this unless I'm absolutely sure this'll work....

So, I don't really have to remove the radio (HUGE hassle) to plug an adapter, like the BlitzSafe, into the port? If that's the case, that is AWSOME!

If you have small enough hands you can get back there. But your likely have to remove the HU a little to plug in the harness.

I just installed my V.1. (Finally!) I've read all the posts on how tricky it is to plug that blue connector into the back of the radio w/o removing, or partially removing it, but it seemed so easy to get my finger back there, so I figured, how hard could it really be?

Well, they were right, it was a total biatch! The problem was keeping the plug straight while trying to position it correctly. Every time I'd get close, the plug would get sideways, and I'd have to reposition it and try again. I realized too late that it was a good idea to line the sharp metal edges in that area w/ electrical tape. Doing so definitely made things easier, but my left hand already looked like I got into a fistfight with a cheese-grater.

Eventually, I finally was able to BARELY get the plug in the right position, but I knew could not push it into place w/ my finger, w/o again getting it sideways. So, I got a long thin (1/4 inch) ratchet extention, and reached around the other (forward) side of the metal radio bracket with it, while guiding it to the back side of the plug w/ a small mirror, and gently pushed the plug into place. I could not feel the connector "click" home w/ the extention (nor did I actually hear it click), but the plug was in as far as it would go, and the thing actually worked (!), so I buttoned it up, and thanked GOD this seemingly simple thing was over with! My blood pressure is likely now back to normal...
