Auto arming w/ the stock alarm

Question Auto arming w/ the stock alarm

When exactly does the stock alam arms itself?

im not sure exactly, but if you leave your car unlocked with the keys OUT of the ignition, it should lock itself within a couple seconds. My best guess would be 15-20 sec.

That would be an incredibly lame feature. I would be very annoyed if my car always locked itself whenever the keys weren't in the ignition.

I'm sure the correct answer to the question is in the owner's manual. You did read it, right?

The alarm never auto-arms itself. However, it does auto-REarm. If the alarm is already armed and you remote unlock the doors, but do not open them, after 30 seconds the doors will re-lock and the alarm will re-engage.

The manual has some good information here. Sometimes my wife and I go out to a nice place and relax in the car with the windows down and read or do some work, the car won't arm automatically, but will re arm as noted.
