Audiolink with Acura/Bose

Well, I'm a return Acura owner with a new WDP TL-S that has all of 200 miles on it. I love the car, and truly believe I'll wind up keeping it longer than my last three efforts (99'Expedition, 95 M3, Legend Coupe - I know, I'm a schizo car buyer). With two kids in tow, the TL-S is the perfect compromise of styling, size, handling and fun to drive quotient.

My ONLY complaint is the stock Acura/Bose digs. Hell, man, my Eddie Bauer Expedition's stock system KILLED this thing across the board- imaging, soundstage and low end. Yes, I'm a recovering car stereo junkie, that no longer is willing to spend huge dollars on systems (I had a McIntosh/Boston PRO setup in my last serious install), but I do want DECENT sound.

In doing a little research, it looks like it would be easy to replace the stock sub with something that could do a better free-air job, throw some decent seperates into the front doors (spending hours figuring our where to air the tweets) and do pretty well. I would hate to blow up the dash on car and would consider using an Audiolink.

Questions: Has anyone used one with the 02'/03' Bose? What kind of results did you get? Noise induction? Help.

Thanks,
Look forward to spending some time on the boards here.

Brad

Yes, I have the AudioLink interface (PD-4) but haven't installed it yet. Give me a couple of weeks and I'll post a full review.

I agree with you that Acura TL's Bose system is the worst I have heard. I had a Z-28 with all Kenwood stuff, 2amps, Kicker Sub.etc. I was at Circuit city the other day and they agreed it was the worst Bose system they have heard. My daughter has a 96 Maxima and it sounds better than the Acura. I think it is because the tweeters are mounted on the dash. I also share your view in that I don't want to spend a small fortune on a sound system and would like to upgrade the speakers. In addition I am still wound up about the XM Satellite radio thing. I drive 60 mile round trips to work and I would really enjoy it. I haven't decided whether or not to go the easy route with the fm modulator or what.

Acura is at the low-end of quality for the "Premium" systems in cars...

Caddy BOSE systems are awesome -- at least it was in the 199!! ElDorado I drove -- that thing had some AWESOME bass and NOTHING RATTLED!!!!!!!!!

Fords JBL & Mach systems are very good -- except the Linco Alpine ones stink -- at least in the Town Car... very little bass... they rely on these like bass things under your seat that feel like bass, but thats it...

The 01 Aurora I drove -- 6 speaker system -- Awesome....
great bass, probably not as hard hitting as the TL without distortion -- but the treble and imaging was much better...
