Attn: StreetEffectz...stock HU question
Since I've been getting conflicting answers to this question I figured I might as well ask you so that you can clear this up for us, do our stock headunits have a CD changer input or some other auxilary input? If so, I'm guessing we can use this input to connect any source, such as an MP3 player, to the headunit, correct? Also, do we need some sort of adapter to use this input? And finally, if this input does exist, how do we use the headunit to select the source connected to this input since we don't have an auxilary selection switch on the headunit?

Here is an install done on a TL, I'm sure the HU has the same type of input..

"To get any auxillary inputs into the TL's stock radio, you will have to invest in a CD changer. I bought a Clarion CD-C635 changer and a Peripheral HONCLRX CD adapter. This adapter also has an AUX input so it was perfect for my MP3 installation. I also had to use the Scosche 10-amp Noise filter and the Scosche ground loop isolator to reduce engine noise."
I don't know if this is the only way, but this is the way he got it to work..

There is a cd-changer input on the back of the stock headunit. There is a way to use this input as an aux input, but you need to get a cd-changer unless you want to get a plug custom made that will allow for auxilary audio....the only changer/adapter available with aux input is the clarion w/peripheral adapter as stated above. I have not personally used or seen this setup, I only know what one of my dealers told me and it obviously works as again, stated in the above post.
I have an older alpine changer in my TL with an aux input adapter, but since this changer is no longer made, you can't do it with the alpine, unless, again, you do something custom...which is definitely doable by the way.
