I just got my first set of Polks in and am ready to begin the mods. The problem is that I am unable to locate anyone locally that carries the .05uF/1kv ceramic disc cap needed for the terminator mod. Do you know of a site where I can order these off of? Thanks.

Johnny,
Glad to hear that you were finally able to get your hands on a pair.
Iggy has sent you to the right source. NTE electronics makes these caps... FYI, they are labeled as 50,000pf instead of .05uF (same thing) There should be some electronics store around that would carry them from NTE. If not, you can typically mail order from one of the stores. If you have to go to that extreme, go ahead and buy all of the other tweeter mods, just in case you want to add them as well. The tweeter resistor/cap mod, is something that helps tame the brightness of the Polks due to the stock EQ. Your ears may or may not think it is necessary. Most of us who have installed these speakers, feel that it is better with the tweeter turned down a bit.
I hope you took the time to check out the scope photos on the terminator performance thread that Iggy was nice enough to post for me. The pics should convince you of the benefits of the hassle. The installation of the terminator mod is a piece of cake on these speakers as long as you are handy with a soldering iron. So are the other mods for that matter.
GOOD LUCK!

Thanks for the info guys. I already checked with Priest Electronics and Cain Electronics, both of which are listed as NTE distributors in my area, and both do not carry those caps. I'll try and see if they can order them for me. I'm so impatient and want to put in the Polks now, but am willing to wait to do this mod.

Ok, I'm really desperate now. The only place on-line selling these ceramic discs wants 14 days to ship out. I can't wait that long...is there any other substitute, i.e. brand, or do you know of a place online to order these discs? Thanks.

johnny,
sorry about that... As Tom Petty says... "The waiting is the hardest part" I feel your pain.
If the shipping takes forever, or they don't deliver and you can't find a better NTE source... Radio Shack does sell some .047uF/50volt disc caps. These would work with the stock electronics, but if you add an aftermarket amp, they may be marginal, which is why I have spec'ed the NTE 1kv jobs. If you find any .05uF or .047uF disc caps at 100volts or more, you would be golden!
I know the frustration of paying more for shipping than the part... but I still think this mod is well worth the price of shipping. It has the effect of replacing all of your cheap speaker wire with some super wire at a FRACTION of the cost. I've gone head to head with common lamp cord and the terminator mod vs. expensive kimber kable, and you couldn't tell the difference. Of course, Without the mod, the kimber was much nicer sounding than lamp cord... but my buddy sure got pissed when I created the same sound by simply adding my $1.98 mod across lamp zipcord.
Patience is a virtue, I guess...
Hang in there. Thanks for the updates.
Good luck!
