Anyone have this Backup Camera?

I was thinking of getting this camera off ebay for my 07 TSX w/nav: Ebay Link

What do you guys think? I'd really like to get a camera where I do not have to drill holes in the car and these ones that bolt on to the license plate look like a good alternative.

!

I don't know why people like these license plate cams. I am using a Wendy's cam, and I didn't drill anything, I just used 3M automotive tape (the stuff they use for body kits) and its on there rock solid, but still removable. I encourage you to go for a similar solution, because those cams are just so ugly!

I thought about that camera also, because I was also wary of drilling holes.

If you're willing to spend a little extra, I'd get a CCD camera instead of a CMOS. That website claims that it's almost identical to CCD quality, but I guarantee that's not the case. Two different technologies, and CCD is clearly superior. That's why it's more expensive.

I've had both a CMOS camera and a CCD camera, and the difference is night and day.

Also, if you're wary of drilling, you can just use mounting tape. It looks like Reach is using it, I know I'm using it, and I know at least one other person using it. It stays on fine. I've washed the car twice, no problems, tape is holding strong.

One other note, if you look at Reach's pic, the underside of the rear deck where the camera is mounted is actually plastic, not metal. When you take out the license plate lights you should be able to see this. When I found that out I actually considered drilling. I bet that trim piece is relatively inexpensive.

But if you like the look of that license plate and you don't mind the picture quality of a CMOS camera, that's not a bad way to go.

I tried searching ebay and google for Wendy's camera but couldn't come up with anything. Does it go by another name?

Here's an example of the camera on ebay. The seller's name is swm902. Send them an email. I don't think it's actually listed as wendy's cam on ebay.

Yes, that's the correct seller. Message her for availability of the new style cameras, also, if you mention Acurazine, she will usually give a small discount.

Cool, I sent her a message via ebay. What is the new style camera like? It's supposed to be better, I take it?

Yep. It works pretty well at night. Maybe 15 ft of visibility.
