Post Anyone Done This???

Okay, since everyone in here has upgraded their audio, with varying opinions on changing the H/U, has anyone taken apart the factory H/U and created their own set of pre-outs direct from the circuit board before the built in amp circuit? I did this once on my old Honda and it worked great, much cleaner than a line converter. Anyone... Thoughts?

In my last car, I got the schematic's (spelling?) for the head unit and traced to where the pre-amp section of the head unit was BEFORE the built in amp section. Then we traced to where the left and right signals were including a common ground and broke the connection from the pre-amp section of the circuit to the amplifier section of the circuit. We then simply created a set of pre-outs from that point, and drilled a hole into the chassis to run the pre-outs to the outside rear of the head unit. It was actually a pretty clean signal, but very low volatge (we measured less than 400 mV) so we used a PG line driver to crank the output voltage, we got it to almost 6 V. The RCA's we created we ran directly to the line driver about 6" from where we made the connection in the deck, the shorter the lead the better. Then, from our line driver after we had a usable signal, into a PG eq, then into the amps and, well, that's it.
I just need to know if anyone in here has a schematic (spelling?) diagram for the head unit that will be in the 2002 TL-S, or where I can get one. My dealer has been reluctant to get it for me, as they have no idea what I am talking about.
Depending on the built in circuitry, you can almost always get a much cleaner signal this way than using the amplified signal and going through a converter after the fact.
Let me know if that makes more sense in what I'm asking...
That being said, anyone done this???
THANKS!
