Have any of the non navi owners, taken out the stock headunit yet??

It removes the same way as the Navi HU if that's what you're asking.
If you want to replace it with something else, you're SOL unless you don't care about losing your HVAC system.

You can add an aftermarket HU in the CD storage compartment if you want.

I didn't take out the stock head unit on my non navi. The installers said that they didn't want to mess with it since you still need an air conditioner. So what they did with mine is put my new head unit in the CD compartment. So now, I still have a display in the stereo screen that you can turn off if you want. The air conditioner still works, but the stereo controls on the steering wheel don't.

I had a custom install done that cost $400 and took over 3 weeks to build.

You should have been able to get the steering wheels controls to work then. It cost an extra $100 for the wiring and adapter. Not very hard to get done. custom install took three weeks??!?!?!? God sounds like they just wanted to take their time with it. Shouldn't be that long..

You have any pics of it? I kept with the stock unit myself and it still sounds AMAZING. I will be posting pics in the next couple days...

Everything custom and well it took them 2 whole days for the install, but I know the guy real well so he basically dropped everything for my car.
