Antenna question

since we dont have any antennas visible on our cars how do we pick up our radio signals?
I just installed my Kenwood KVT-715 everything else works but the radio and im starting to think that it might be an antenna problem. So just wondering if anyone can give me some help?
thanks in advance

I don’t know what car you have but most cars use an antenna amplifier that is powered via the factory harness (factory HU). You need to find it and see if it is powered. A lot of aftermarket wiring harnesses do not include this pin. You can use the “Power Antenna” wire from your new deck to feed it. Again, without knowing your specific wiring I can’t tell you what wire it would be.

Before this turns into rocket science......

Almost every Metra harness has an "Antenna TURN ON" wire. It's blue. Some Metra harnesses have both an ANTENNA and AMP turn on wires. Most aftermarket deck harnesses have a blue wire with a white stripe that will turn on either of these factory options. Some aftermarket decks have seperate ANTENNA and AMP turn on wires.

For your TL... the Metra harness will have a single blue wire. This will turn on both your amplified antenna and your factory subwoofer amp.
