Amp/Sub Ohm question

Trying to be cheap here and work with what I have. what would happen if I ran a 300 watt 6 ohm dual voice coil to a bridged 400.1 @ 4ohms? As I understand it, if I run it parallel the sub will be reduced to 3ohms. Am I about to shhot myself in the foot here? :banghead:
thanx guys

most decent amps will run @ 3ohms with no problem.. worse thing that might happen is your amp run hott... but i think it would be just fine..
