Amp Killing FM Reception

You may have seen my previous post on this.. After I had my amp installed I have horrible FM reception.

It was suggested that they had cut into the remote lead for the FM amplifier.

This turned out not to be the case. They moved the lead from accessory to run (which is good anyway so I dont kill my battery in accessory anyway) but when you run it in ACC FM reception is fine and as soon as you turn it to run its still okay for a sec but as soon as the amp fires up the FM light starts to flicker on strong stations and weaker stations no longer come in at all.

Do you think some kind of shielding around the amp would be a good idea?

Thoughts, comments?

It's worth trying to move the RCA wires away from all the live wires. The radio is picking up signals from the live wires and RCA, that should be what's causing the distortion or weakening in radio signal.

The only thought I had on this, at the moment is, some amps don't like to touch metal in a car(like bolted to ANY car metal).

This creates a ground loop, but not all amps react to it, and the effect is usually alternator whine.

Its mounted to the back of the seat which i'm pretty sure is plastic

I pulled the RCA's and it does the same thing, and it does the same thing with the seat folder forward.

So it doesnt seem to be a proximity thing..

Maybe i'll try covering the amp in aluminum foil
