Am I able to hook a CD Changer up directly to the head unit?
I have the 2000 Acura TL standard Bose system, standard head unit. I would rather not change out the head unit and don't want to do the RF Modulator.
Thanks

Buy the blitzsafe adapter.
http://www.logjamelectronics.com/blitzhonalpdmxv1.html
on the same page, they give you which CD changer are compatible with it. I recommend the Alpine CHA-S634 6 disc cd/mp3 changer.
You are able to control the cd changer from the HU and steering wheel control. It doesn't shuffle thru 6 different cds tho. Works just like the OEM cd changer.

But the current setup with the stock HU w/ alpine 6 disc CD/Mp3 changer is very nice. 120 or so Mp3 on a cd is still better then having a lot of cds.

I don't really think it exist yet. Since loading between cds would take more time, then shuffle on the cd itself, its impracticle for it to shuffle between cds. If you find any more info let me know.

Ah..okay. I just thought a unit with this feature would've been out there a long time ago. Even my JVC mini-stereo system from 1993 allows a random shuffle between all discs and it has one disc in tray + a 6 disc magazine. Weird.....
Thanks so much for the info! So even if we found a changer that would do this - our Bose HU wouldn't support it anyway?

You press the CD button twice to change to the cd changer and if you press the CD button again, it goes back to HU CD, same thing as if you had the OEM CD changer. You press # 1-6 to switch which CD you want in the CD changer.

O, that's really cool!
I was thinking of getting the OEM changer to make things easier. Where is the best place to get it (cheap) and does it read CD-Rs well (the whole point of making the switch)?
Thanks,

Very easy just find and disc changer that is Rf compatiable I know u can get a JVC 10 disc mp3 player for $200, just make sure it is the 1500RF. RF is important,

Bltizsafe adapter allows you to control the Alpine Changer with the Acura HU, the Mp3 comptaible one needs an extra wire I believe........its been too long for me. The compatible regular 6 disc changer only needs the blitzsafe adapter, no extra wire to buy. The link I provided above will tell you what you need to buy to make everything work.

I went with an RF modulated cd changer, and now I regret it due to poor sound quality (after upgrading system that is--couldn't hear the difference with the OEM Bose system). My next move is to buy the Blitzsafe adapter that also has AUX input and use that. I'll keep my cd changer control panel to control the changer. Of course, this implies taking apart the RF modulator to find the preamp signal for the AUX input. Lowest price I found on the Blitzsafe adapters was at Enfig.com.

QUICK question- these CD changer options- assume they'll work on a '99 TL Navi system(stock) as well? Same hookup as the 2000? That didn't change, I hope.
Buying a friend's TL(it's MINT!!) next month. Pretty psyched.
Thanks guys! My 1st post here..

Everything's the same, but I don't know if the navi system uses that third harness plug-in where the Bllitzsafe adapter goes. I'd call Blitzsafe and ask them to be safe.
