Alternator hine through speaker wires

Hello all. I have a system in my TSX using Mercman's harness and JL amps. I've always had a little alternator whine and never was TOO concerned about it. Fgured one day i'd go in and screw with the grounds to try to resolve it.

Well, a couple weeks ago, my car got hit. Since the body work would all be in the rear, I removed my amps. When I drove the car after that, with no amps in the car, I still had the alternator whine. Therefore it has to be coming in through the speaker wires and/or crossovers. I've been installing as a hobby for almost 20 years and haven't encountered whine through the speaker wires before.

Has anyone ever encountered this? I vaguely recall someone saying something about not putting your crossovers in the center console (where the stock amp was, behind the "not an ashtray" ). If I recall, was something about an airbag module of some sort causing issues. I didn't remember this when I installed it originally. That is where mine are and I can move them when the car comes back. But curious if anyone has ever seen this before and might have an idea. Thanks in advance.

yeah, works very well. NAV voice works fine. only problem is, it's much louder than before since it's amplified through the aftermarket amp. i have one of the first ones he made. ones now have some RF rejection which removes some hiss that some people with older harnesses have noticed. I haven't replaced it as of yet, not sure I will.

Sorry bully, I had my crossovers in that same spot when I still had my car, and I always had a small, but there, bit of alternator whine. It was so faint as to only bother me when there was no music playing, so I left it alone.

Well, got the car back last night and noticed that all of the noise was coming from the right front. I moved the crossover and it's now gone.

My front left crossover is where the stock amp was (I removed the stock amp). That's where it's always been and (I think) has been noise free. The front right one (where the noise was coming from apparently) was in the center as well, but further forward. In the passenger footwell, if you take off the little panel at the far front on the center console, there is an opening in there. I had the right crossover there. I moved it to the kick panel and the noise is gone.
