Question Alpine Type X's Problem

i been having this problem with my past sub boxes i got 2 12 inch alpine type x's and after like a year or so the sub ends up flying out the box and making the box useless and the screws are broken in half. half of the screw stuck inside the box still. and the sub boxes i had werent cheap there bassworx boxes made with 3/4 inch mdf

im just wondering what kind of screws you guys use. i dont know what kind they used this time because i got it professionally installed from best buy. but ill post some pics later today or tommorow of the sub box and the screws they used

just for reference this is the box im using

Get a properly designed and built ported box made for them

Shouldn't cost too much

Advice I can give you that was handed down to me from Andy W. of JBL:

When going with a ported box, go as big as you can, tune as low as you can, and EQ out the peak (if there is one.) Also poly-stuff the box at up to ~1.25lbs of stuffing per cubic foot, which will effectively lower the port tune a bit more.

Model it up on WinISD if you want to see a visual example of what it would sound like (relative to the box you have now.)

fyi I have shipped boxes to others, and its not too bad at all when going general parcel with usps, with insurance. I just use cardboard left over from other boxes (or you can purchase boxes just about anywhere and cut them up into strips, and tape them together to make the correct box size.) Once you got two layers on the box, you can wrap it all in cellophane, and then you're good. About $20 in shipping materials average per enclosure. Shipping itself can be estimated on USPS website, but the best thing to do is to get an agreement with your buyer that the total cost will be paid based on actual shipping cost + materials, and that's best done by having the buyer paypal you a higher than planned cost and then refunding what is not spent.

The boxes I built and shipped for people was for the Mazda Tribute / Ford Escape / Mercury Mariner crowd. I used my own Tribute to build fiberglass bottoms, then made simple wood tops and carpeted it all for a clean appearance in the trunk. I made and shipped 5 of them, if I recall.

Note, I'm not saying I'll make one for you, I'm out of the business of doing it until my boy gets a little older and needs less constant attention
