Anyone know how to hook up the steering wheel controls to an alpine HU??

You need this PAC SWIX
its a general interface for any car with steering wheel controls.
All it really is, is a module that copies the IR's of ur Alpine head unit and it has a little infrared bulb u have to put in ur centre console area, because it has to face the deck and when you hit ur buttons on ur steering wheel, it will send signals to the deck like the remote the alpine came with thats all. But plus you can get it to do other things instead of volumn up and down and change tracks.

and if u do, u need to tear ur deck out again.

 

I dont use my steering buttons anymore...I like the remote better I can control alot more features beside up/down volume

 

I hate the alpine remotes, man thats like a remote for my tv. Like they're so big. When I used to have a panasonic deck(yeah i know its a piece of crap) they came with a card remote. That remote was awsome, super thin and small.
But I don't like these alpine ones.
I hate the pioneer ones too, so fugly.
