what is the difference between the two Head Units? and which one is better and compatable with the Alpine CVA-1005

all alpine units in the last 3 gens are compatible. the CDA-7977 has a couple of extra features that the 7965 does not. Check out www.alpine1.com for details on them.

for our JL Audio XR650 CS did it fit perfectly into the door panel? or did u need to cut the metal part?

why do you want another headunit if you already have the cva1005? if you want cd playback in the dash, then get either the dva5205 dvd/vcd/cd player (you also get a nother video source) or go with the cda5755/5755g add-on eq's that also play cds.

it's about $1000 for the 5205 and about $500? for the eq.
