Aftermarket Oem Nav???

I need some senior experience on this one:

I am new to the CL and just bought a 2001 Type-S. I LOVE the car but wish I had the chance to buy a nav version. I have a guy that has the original nav system from a wrecked CL and I was wondering if someone could shed some light on the subject of "WILL THIS WORK???". Is this possible? Can I just get a new bezzle, install the factory nav, install the computer, install the DVD unit in the trunk, install the climate control unit, and be done with it? Or is there more? Is the electrical (DIN plugs) the same? I am hoping for a plug-n-play situation here but I'm afraid that might not be the case. I have never seen the unit to see if the plugs are the same or if this is even possible.

Let me know...

It's not. All the wiring harnesses for the car are different for nav. The only thing that is plug and play is the AC unit. That's it.

Two options:

1 - splice into the factory harnesses with the new nvai harness
2 - remove the factory harnesses and put the navi harness in

Both are a whole lot of work.

Ok, but technically, I could splice the old harness to the new? Are there extra wires? Where could I get an electrical spec book for the CLS? and would I need to get both Nav and Non-Nav books?

Does that mean that the nav and non-nav plugs are the same for the air controls? I asked in another post, but never got an answer.

The AC unit plug from the non-navi controls plugs right into the navi ac control unit. Other than that, you'd have to find someone with a detailed schematic of the wiring. Helms has a manual, not sure how much info it gives.

Best bet is to buy all the wiring harnesses for a navi car and swap them into your car. Not sure how much work that is.

Cool, that gets me what I need... I want to put the (whole big) trim bezel from a nav car in my non-nav so I can install the eclipse nav unit in the stock location... I was hoping I could just plug the AC controls from the new bezel into my harness.

Don't think that will work. The AC is controlled by the navi unit as well. So you'd have to figure out how that worked. Your best bet is to mold the non-navi AC controls into the dash. Someone did a while back and posted pics. Can't remember who it was.
