Aftermarket navigation

I've got a '01-CL-s w/out factory Navigation. I'm wanting to add the navigation system and maybe a DVD player. Like this setup here .

I'd like to keep my factory head unit so I guess what I'm looking for is just the motorized screen. I don't really want a tuner in it or anything.

Soooo, if this was your car. How hard was it to take the Post it not holder out and add the Screen? Any links to sites that sell the screens would be helpful also. All I have found are screen and tuners included.

Thanks guys

Ok guys, I think I've found the computer that I want to use for my "Auto-PC". Now all I need is the Monitor. I'd really like to replace the post-it note holder with a motorized unit. What's a good price on one? I've looked at crutchfield and some of the Name Brand sites. Is there anywhere else I can look to find a good deal??

Thanks..

How involved is an install like that?

I suggest you to do an extensive reseach to see which motorized screens can be fitted there (very limited space). A lot of modifications are needed and not all motorized screens can be modified to fit in there. Just wanna give you the head-up before you buy some random screen.

Aah, so that was your car I saw the picture of.

Cool setup man. If you don't mind could you give some insight on what you went through to get the screen in the post it holder slot? How much room is in there?

Is there a better place to put a screen? I want to be able to use it (not while driving) from the drivers seat. So headrests isn't an option.

No, the pics that you saw are Tim's, acura-tl.com owner.

Mine is a Panasonic silver face. http://silverknight.clickhere2.net/images/screen.jpg

There were some cutting involved. There is not much space in there. You are talking less than 1/2 DIN toward the front and about full DIN toward the back.

You can take out the stock HU and put a screen there. But it looks a lot nicer if you could fit a screen in the Note holder slot.

Good luck.

Looks nice. Is the Panasonic the Nav unit as well or just the screen?

It's just a screen but it's Navi compatible meaning dedicated Navi inputs, Navi mute, Navi volume control.

It's a very nice unit. It even has dedicated camera input. If you put your car to reverse, the screen automically switches to camera (if you set it to do so). I alread put in a back-up camera and it's very cool.

Did you cut into the dash above the player or into the top of the radio?

It is do-able. I did it. Just take a little patient. I would recommend to do it yourself if you are a little handy. I wouldn't trust anyone cutting up my dash without having done at least one before. In another word, dont let any installer experience on your car.
