Talking Aftermarket Nav and DVD

Hi all,

I have a new tls and opted not to get the navi because I wanted to put in an aftermarket nav. I went down to a local Magnolia HiFi and got a quoted. They told me in order to put in a nav/dvd I would need to take out my stock in dash 6-cd player. He advised me to go with the pioneer deck with 7' monitor(4vxp7300dvd) with the 5.1 processor for $2599.98, pioneer nav(avic9000dvd) for $1999.99, pioneer indash 6 cd player(cdx9d6) for $449.98, and the total with labor and tax come to $6147.13.

What do you guys think of this set up?
cost?
Do any of you have any other recommendation for more effective cost?

All I want is a nav, dvd, and possible be able to play some games on there.

thx

david

Oh man...if you got 6000+ burning in your pocket go ahead. I would have just spent on the 2000 dollar for the Acura GPS which integrate nicely into the dash and got the Video on my Nave Kit for 200 bucks and a PS2 to play DVDs on the navigation screen. It would have cost you way under less than 3000 for everything.

How exactly did you get video output to your Navi Kit for 200 bones??? I'm about to trade in my '96 3.2TL for a new TL-S with Nav and what to figure out how hard this will be...

Thanks in advance,
LOS

Well someone on here is selling the decoder for about 250, but I'm saying if you bought all the parts yourself you can get it about 200...I've search for the parts already, but I haven't built it. Maybe when I have time later. There is an instruction posted in "audio&electronic" section that tells you how to build a "video on my nav" decoder by SteveSMS....just do a search on navi decoder. Many people have done it already so you got plenty of people to ask if you need assistance.

Back to my original question. Is there any other alternative for a non tls guy beside spending 6000+ on the nav/dvd system. Do you guys have any other recommendation?

thx

Hehe,
I have that setup You should have bought the navi form the dealer if you really wanted one. Acura has a way better GPS system than pioneer. I felt I didn't need the CD changer. I got my brain and the 7300 DVD for 1900 of course labor for my car was like 2G with the complete system. Subs, custum trunk, components, Isolater, backup batty, alarm, backup siren, Power cap, amps.
