Aftermarket HU just stopped working!
I've got a Pioneer DEH-8500MP installed in my car almost a year ago, just a couple mins ago I went down to my car to get a cd out of it, when I turn on the car the faceplate starts to slide down, then stops, then slides up, then down, then up, etc.
Eventually it just goes black and stops completely. Now nothing I do will get it to turn on - is my HU likely hooked up to a fuse that I can find, or am I going to have to go back to the sound place and have it warrantied? Anyone have any ideas? I didn't do the install myself so I don't know if there's a fuse or anything, but I have to imagine there would be.

it is a safe bet that it is a short that occured initially in the ribbon cable the connects the face to the rest of the radio electronically. it is a common problem and about the only thing you can do is send the whole radio into pioneer and have them replace the part in question. My suggestion is talk to the place you bought it from and see if it is still under warranty (if you bought it within the last year you ought to be), otherwise you are going to be out a few hundred in repairs.
